Yea I heard about those beer vending machinces from this Japanese exchance student I knew when i was in highschool a long time ago. He was like they have the honor system there so you won't buy beer from the machine unless you are old enough. That wouldn't work in the US for sure.

yea, the drinking age here is supposed to be 20. but its not enforced at all. i look like im 16 prob, and ive never been carded, nor have i seen anyone else ever be carded. drinking in public is legal too! i always take a 6 pk on my 1hr train rides to downtown tokyo, woohooo!
