Sony drops teh ball again w/ teh PS3!

at work today(i work at EB Games) we got an email saying that our shipment of PS3's will be reduced by basically HALF. its really ->40%<- but hey it hurts all the same. soooo uh hahaha hope ya'll reserved em or sumthing. even then i think the email was like even the reserves may not be able to be filled. it said that every1 should get a PS3 by christmas if they reserved it(rofl gl w/ that one) sooo uh yea. there you have it. pretty much EBAY is gonna make so much fucking money off the PS3 and the Wii might just own christmas hard as HELL.

They only talking about the amount EB games and GS is getting. They still shipping 400,000 to other stores. Like Bestbuy got a lot it seems at least 26 PS3 per store.

I am not going to camp out to get a PS3 ill just go to the stores when they open. If I don't get one I can wait. They supose to be shipping 800,000 to the US by the end of the year.

i guess we were supposed to get a lot of PS3's cuz my co-workers was like its gonna be as bad as wal-mart or sumthing when the console comes out. cuz we aint gonna have much more than anybody else now i suppose. the Wii is supposed to have 2mil consoles rdy to go for this holiday so they got like more than a 2 to 1 edge roflolol. dunno why Sony likes to shoot itself in the face like this all the time. i hope i dont gotta work friday or sat cuz we're gonna get cussed out sooooo bad lol. the store i work at has like the most volume/customers/what the hell ever out of all the stores in the region.

Sony always does this like they did it with PS2. Can't you kick them out of the store if they are saying crap to you?

Wii is kind of using like 5 year old hardware. Which is why I would wait to buy one till the drop the price. The only game that is good for it right now is Zelda which I can just buy on Gamecube which I already have. I guess I will wait till they have SSBB and Mario out for it before I would get a Wii.

Just want PS3 sometime before the year ends.

I failed to get a PS3 today. I went to Fred Meyer (http://www.fredmeyer.com) there was a line of 200 or more people and I got there 30 min before they even opened. So I didn't even go to Circuit City down the street. Which is funny cause store was only getting like 6 PS3.

No idea when I can get one now.

lol the best buy near me had like 600 people outside since like 2 AM last night, and when the store was about to open, the people outside were so roudy that best buy didnt even open, and they shipped all their units out to another store

In case you had missed it the number of Ps3's that were shipped is supposed to fall somewhere close to 150,000. So much for that 400,000 shipped they were throwing around a week ago. Also I'd bet that you'll see alot of issues crop up with disk read errors, overheating, etc. Just like the 360 launch. So don't feel bad if you didn't get one you're probably better off unless you were planning on selling it (which I think is what more then 50% of the people buyin them are doing.)

Just thought I'd share my near miss with a riotous mob of disappointed Ps3 buyers. So I walk to work in the mornings through the biggest mall in the city of boston. Theres' a gamestop an EB and a Sony Store within the mall so I was expecting to see about 100 people hanging around.

I walk up to the door I usually enter and there are 3 Boston Police officers. They look at me and I just start to go walking buy when they stop me. Where's your receipt?? I'm like uuuh what? You here for a Ps3 right? Nope! Ok go ahead.

I get to the sony store. There's a huge maze thing set up in front with 5 more cops and a few store employees hanging around. Then down the escalator. At least 10 police officers are standing there at the top of a set of escalators and down at the bottom is 500 people! They were so whipped up that they looked like a mosh pit. Screaming, punching, kicking and the cops are in full riot control mode!!! I'm like WTF is going on. 500 people all think they're going to get a PS3???

So I get to work and I'm trying to find a news story. My fiance called and told me what happened. They made everyone wait outside the mall all night long and the line had started forming 2 days ago in doors because the Sony Store was telling people they'd have a Ps3 for everyone no problem! The store clerk they talked to said something about sony promised them at least 100. Well they didn't tell anyone until arond 5 or 6 am this morning that the shipment had been cut significantly and that they'd probably be going home empty handed. When that happened a riot broke out and people were going nuts. They took everyone outside and would only allow you in if you had a pre-order slip. When I passed was about an hour afterwards and people were still trying to fight their way up to the door.

All I could do was laugh as I walked by because of the absurdity of the whole situation. Even just seeing the long maze of ropes the Sony Store had setup, like they were going to be giving out thousands of Ps3s, made me laugh pretty hard. The line they had wound around and passed the front of about 4 other stores! ROFL

To the people who really wanted to get one and play it TODAY? What game were you looking at thinking to yourself OMG I need to play this now! Nothing looks to spectacular at this point.

theres nothing rly coming out for either system(PS3 or Wii) that warrents all the mess ppl go thru to get it atm, or the insane price of the PS3. wait till new year or sumthing when theres more supply and all the bugs get found out. gogo 360 and gears of war and GRAW. and i used to HATE microsoft...till i played gears and GRAW :tati:

I know theres not that many good PS3 games out now but there will be later.

Theres Zelda TP on Wii but you can just get it for Gamecube in December and not have to buy a new system. Which is what I am going to do.

to get zelda for the Wii you gotta buy it w/ a bundle thing. its like almost $700. but comes with 5 games an xtra controller and warrenties/product replacement plans n JUNK.

Shit Lef, if you love those games you'll have to play Rainbow Six Vegas, coming out next week i believe. There is a demo on XBL, tell your buddies to at least DL it so you can try it.

Also, FEAR is fucking awesome. There is a slow-mo button, similar to Max Payne, but its an FPS

i wanna play fear it looks pretty good. i cant wait till next semester ima buy a new pc(FOR FUCKING SURE UGGH) and ima play all those fantastic fps games n stuff ;;b. we cant use xbox live on campus or anything ><. so if you gotta get on the internet to dl stuff i dunno if itll work here. i might try and buy a 360 w/e money starts falling from the sky or i get paid more than minimum wage.

Haven't noticed any of this. Plus the PS3 and the controller are both upgradable/flashable so most problems can be ironed out as they're identified and verified.

i got owned by toys r us and eb games when they both didnt have the 60s Q_Q even though i preordered 60s ~_~ 1 was sold on ebay, and the other is actually in that picture on the top left of my media unit, its the ony with the red light. you might also wonder how i can put my 360 and ps3 in such a tight space. I installed 7 fans (2 for my 360, 2 for my ps3, 1 each for my 2 ps2s, and 1 for my wii) on the very back so there is good air slow pushing out the front to keep it from turning into a oven.
