LOL.... Wow that's the first thing other than like YMCA that I've ever seen even clips of the village people. Does anyone know if they were like hyper gay, or did they kind of create those looks and the homosexual community ran with it? It's just funny watching it and thinking "This is like the gayest thing I've ever seen" but then realizing that they might not have even been trying to act gay. They might have just been trying to look "good" like 80's hair bands.

Wikipedia ftw (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Village_People):
"The band's name references New York City (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City)'s Greenwich Village (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenwich_Village), at the time known for having a substantial gay population. Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo got the inspiration for creating an assembly of American man archetypes based on the gay men of The Village who frequently dressed in various fantasy ways."

Ok, less funny then. Only slightly funny if people at the time didn't know they were gay at all. Because I would imagine at the time, that sort of thing was very taboo.
