Apparently they working on robust background story for warcraft with Lord of the Clans (canceled) and then they made some hit game called Starcraft which apparently ruled the internet for 2-3 years.

I played Diablo 1 to death. I loved that game so damn much.
I was so psyched about Diablo 2 coming out. I read all these articles, and waited forever.
When it was finally being released, I ran over to EB and preordered the collectors edition. When I got it, I started playing that game all happy.
I played it for 2 weeks, and after that for some reason I stopped. And I haven't touched it since then.
I think I just played out the old Diablo 1 that I got sick of the game by the time 2 came out. A similar thing happened with Starcraft. I loved RTS games back then, and I played the pants off of Warcraft 2 and C&C and Red Alert, but when Starcraft came out I played it for a few weeks then quit forever as well, being kinda sick of the genre.

There wasn't an overall campaign just pretty much a set of maps with a story to them and 2 factions pitted against eachother.

it's about clicking your mouse buttons until they break and gaining exp

its about trying to get into one of the dozens of sex channels to read ppl talking about inserting inanimate objects into the orafices of females(all of em including the 3 down south, yes 3) and jizzing immeasurable amounts of sea-mans in one or all of these orifices. IF by sum fucking miracle you are able to physically remove yourself from one of the sex channels you can partake in killing demons with the ultimate goal of besting Diablo and Baal themselves. after that you could join a clan or create one if you so desire but ultimately its about graphic cybering involving tentacles and spritzing bodily fluids all on and inside the cyberee. diablo 1 is about getting destroyed by sum giant demon with a butcher knife cuz you dont know you can use a bow and arrow to kill him so you put the game away for a year and hate it cuz it doesnt have sex channels.

Alex has a point about RTS' and how they die out. I was always a big fan of Age of Empires but the sequels really did nothing for me.
I liked D2, just can't see myself playing another one. I need another good FPS. Where's my Aliens vs. Predator 3?!
