PS3 on the other hand, $600 for a Resistance FOM player just doesnt seem worth it. Of course once MGS, DMC4, Tekken, and FFXIII come out i will be singin a different tune... that and if you can DL FF Tactics and send it to a PSP... cuz i dont think i can wait for the port of FFT to the PSP

the ps3 does so much more than play games tho. lets say you have a psp. you got a buddy who has an ipod. he or she has a song on it you want. connect the ipod to the ps3 and take your psp memory stick and stick it into your ps3(assuming you have a 60G if not then what the fuck is wrong with you?) and you can copy the ipod songs OR videos onto your ps3 OR to the memory stick. it can surf the web faster than my pc which is disheartening. when the ps store gets more content itll be awesome. hopefully the whole ps1 library will be up there for dl. better get those 4G psp memory sticks folks! not to mention its a dvd and blu ray player altho i havent watched a blu ray dvd yet. i understand if folk dont wanna buy it right now cuz there isnt much on it but, other than zelda whats on the wii ? i mean seriously swinging a controller is fun and all but that gets old. wheres the substance! when metroid comes out ill get a wii. the ps3 can play all your old ps1 and ps2 games AND you can save em straight to the HD using its internal memory card feature. can teh wii do that w/ gamecube ?

As far as games go, the virtual console alone would merit me to buy the wii, but thats cuz i still play my nes and snes and shit. Metroid and Mario Galaxy will make me cream. I am a huge zelda fanboy.

I am not sayin the PS3 sucks by any means. I'll definitely be getting one, i just need a better reason than an FPS. I already have 360, so i have Call of Duty 2 (3 sucks imo), FEAR, Prey, and Gears of War. I do want to play FOM, but i can live without it. I hang out with a lot of people who dont play a lot of games, so something like a Wii would be fun for small get togethers/ parties etc. Seems more suiting to a casual gamer. Plus its nintendo Q_Q.

As far as all the multimedia facets of the PS3, i can get a lot of that on my 360... no HD/Blu player, but i dont have a 1080p tv, so that does me little good. I have a decent pc, so all my music transfers are a bit more practical on that. And, when it comes down to it, all those extra features are def cool and useful, but i would rather judge a video game console on its games and how it runs them.

The one thing that really sucks about 360, though, is the 20gig HDD. Why they dont have an upgrade available is beyond me, but 20gigs goes fast.

Right now i would put it at XBOX360, WII, and then PS3. After another year, that will likely change, but damned if i can predict how @_@.

I heard a rumor that the MGS series (1-3) are being re-done for the 360. Kojimas crew has been working with 360 dev kits on some "Project-X" or some such, so i wouldnt be shocked to see those, or even MGS4 on the 360 :O. Virtua Fighter already lost full exclusivity (6mo window), and there are also very lose rumors that Tekken could follow suit. Sony needs to do something to earn their developer faith back.

be that as it may the ps3 is still more powerful than the 360. ive heard everything from virtua fighter to ffxiii being on the 360. i mean the 360 has out performed the ps3 so far but developers have had over a year to develop for it and the ps3 is using sum experimental processor. sony has lost the rights to a lot of games in the past this isnt new. they lost the exclusivity to the gta series and final fantasies have been made on other consoles as well. ppl have been trying to say how the 360 is just so much btr than the ps3 and its a huge waste of money. for the games i play the ps3 has been the best choice for me. i can play all the old games i used to play and there is potential to play old ps1 stuff on my psp.

honestly i think it boils down to whether you play a lot of playstation games or xbox. if you nvr owned a ps system in your life and you wanna play stuff like mgs4 or ffxiii etc take a chance and hope they get put on the 360. or you can just get the system the games are supposed to come out on first and be done with it.

now if i were to step back and think "what games would entice me to get a 360?" honestly there is nothing on it and nothing coming out on it that id rather play over mgs4, ffxiii, resistance, gta4, and lord knows what else may come out on it a year or two down the road.

The only thing that is going to mean anything is who develops what for which system. The system itself makes up 1% of the difference. The other 99% is up to the game developers. Everything else is merely an academic argument which only serves to give fanbois on both sides something to talk about.

For what it's worth, I think Sony completely and utterly flubbed the PS3 launch. They have also made an absolutely ridiculous business decision by refusing to allow pornography to be distributed on Blu-ray. But that's all immaterial in this debate because the game is not going to be won or lost by Microsoft or Sony ... it's going to be won or lost by the developers.

If MGS4 comes out for 360 or is even announced for 360 before release on Ps3 I'll want a 360 more by far. One thing though... is that I like how Ps3's online part will be. I don't like the idea behind xbox live.

I still have faith in Sony though, even though they're losing a grip on games. All you have to do is compare Ps3 to Ps2 or Psx and their competition at the time... Sony overcame a lot and kicked ass before, its hard to imagine them failing. They're marketing kings. If anything, Sony was a LOT more handicaped for Ps2 and Psx initially than they are with Ps3.

Wii will still get more support. Japan doesn't like the Xbox because its biggest game base is first person shooters which are not popular in Japan. This is why Microsoft is trying so hard to get Square to make games for them. If they can get a big RPG base for their system then thats a big reason for the Japanese gamer to buy an Xbox.

They used to hate microsoft, until Blue Dragon came out... then 360s sold out across japan in a matter of hours.... not to mention Hironobu is working on another 360 only RPG (all of this from Mistwalker studios). Micro$oft is startin to crack into the jp market...

It is really hard to tell right now, both systems have tech specs that outdo the others.. it will really come down to dev utilization, and from what i have heard, the PS3 is really hard to dev for. I dont think the PS3 will be another dreamcast... but it could very well be another saturn... saturn tanked because it was extremely advanced for its time. Devs technology just couldnt match up to the saturns tech. I could definitely see the PS3 having the same fate. They are trying to pick the lock when they already had the fuckin key.

I am not sure what you are sayin with the whole graphics thing. I have played R:FOM and i think Gears graphics beat the hell out of that. I would compare FOMs graphics more to COD or something(not that theyre bad or anything...

As far as games go? The only thing actually out for the PS3 i wanna play is R:FOM.

Xbox is extremely FPS centric, i wont deny that, but they are def adding to the mix with some great titles from other genres. Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey alone, two RPGs from the creator of final fantasy, are reason enough for me to have my 360 (those are exclusive so far.)

But then again i can afford all 3 systems so i can say shit like that

Power does matter, but the power differences between the 360 and the PS3 are negligible, so it doesn't matter in that comparison.

And Sony is cocky, but they have every reason to be, they have had the industry by the balls since it stepped in. After what happend with Ps2, I con't pass judgement on them THIS early really.

Ps2 came out vs Dreamcast a lot like how Ps3 did vs Xbox 360. Xbox 360 is obviously better than DC for its awesome mainstream 3rd party support (Like Sega had bad relations with EA). Ps2's launch game graphics were worse than what DC had out, Ps2 was the over priced one launched with a shortage, that was extremly hard to develop for. Difference between Ps2 and Ps3 is Ps2 had competition coming out a year after its release with much better hardware, while Ps3 has the top hardware.

People would talk about DC sales and stuff, and how Japan was all for it etc, but it still flopped. Once again though, Microsoft is better than Sega, they have more money, better marketing, and are getting more support. The hardcore gaming community never has supported a Sony launch yet, but 2 years after, all of the people not supporting it had one themselves. (Psx/Ps2) >_>

I'm not a big fan of the pricing, and probably less hardcore of a gamer than I used to be... but rest assured that there's no way to write off Sony, period. All you have to do is go back and look at the facts about Psx and Ps2, if Sony could pull #1 out of their asses with those pieces of crap, they can most definently do it with Ps3.

I'm kinda taking my own side on this, 360 is impressive, and so is Wii, and sony is screwing up. But, that means nothing about how things will end up. Because Dreamcast, Gamecube, and Xbox were all fairly impressive systems to start, and sony was fucking up when Ps2 launched... but in the end, who had the last laugh?
