    New releases!

so many new games coming out in the next few weeks! for starters:

God of War II: i played the demo and lemme tell you this, it kicks the hell out of the first game Q_Q. pick it up it comes out march 13th!

Supreme Commander: played the demo and during the campaign on the first mission i got 23 troop transports(aerial) that carry 6 ground units each. sum with mobile artillery pieces and sum with mobile AA guns. there can be so many units on screens at once. you can have an air force with bombers and air superiority fighters. you can build HUGE artillery pieces(seriously theyre like the size of mountains) when the round they fire hits the target it leave a huge crater. its cool cuz you cant just crank out these things like that. everything takes a set amount of time to build. for instance those guns take 37mins to build with 1 engineer. strategic missile batteries(they fire nukes) take 89 mins to build with a single engineer Q_Q. anyways go get this game too! comes out today yo!

    now for PS3 games!

F.E.A.R: yea it was on the pc and 360 but it looks rly good !_!. if youve nvr played it go and pick it up! same release date as oblivion and God Of War II.

Oblivion: same thing, it was on 360 and pc but hey it looks like visual sex !_!. go pick that up too! this comes out the 13th of march

Virtua Fighter 5: its virtua fighter jc! im more a tekken fan but ima rent it and see if i like it. i liked 4 it was pretty cool i just gotta find a char to play. go and pick it up for ps3 even if you have a 360 unless you want to wait till august and hope the 360 version looks marginally btr. rly its about the gameplay not graphics you nubz! this comes out today!

Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection: basically the arcade version ported to the ps3 via the playstation store. itll have the final boss Jinpachi as a playable char among others. buy it for $16(and tell all your friends and 360 fanboys you bought a ps3 game for $16) at the playstation store fed 26th!

welp im stoked bout all that STUFF. and yea there aint any 360 games included cuz i dont have one yet. no wii games either cuz metroid dont come out till june. anyways c u n hell!

I'll fill in for your XBOX 360 ;D

    CRACKDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats all that really needs to be said, but..

NBA Street: Played the demo, If you like the last one, this one will get your cock a dancin.

GRAW 2: The demo was kind of short, but the game is coming together suberbly. More of a GRAW Rainbow Six mixture, this time, but thats a good thing.

Depending on how far into the future you're looking, there are a bunch of other ones, but i am keeping it to whats gonna be here soon.

OH, and LAF definitely pick up FEAR, it a buttfuck load of fun. Oblivion is great too, and hopefully PS3 doesnt horse armor you, like 360 tried to do.

On the Xbox version of Oblivion you could download horse armor or extra levels if you bought Microsoft points. Its not really all that great when they port a PC game to a console. I rented the game for Xbox360, one of the few games at the time Hollywood video had to rent wasn't all that fun to me.

i dont think the ps3 version is like that. the psn doesnt have "points" we live in the real world we use this thing called "money". seriously tho i havent read nothing bout buying armor or w/e off the ps store. the ps3 version comes with the knights of nine too so i guy i wont have to buy that.

It wouldn't surprise me if the horse armor made it to the PS3 version, since it was also available for the PC version of Oblivion (I believe it was purchased from Bethesda's website).

Micropayments for content are the new "big thing" in the video game industry, so don't be surprised to see PS3 games following suit, regardless of whether it's points or dollars you're paying for the content.

I use to joke about Microtransactions going to far.

For example lets hope they don't do this. They release FFXIII but you don't get access to everything in the game. You have to go the the Playstation store pay $5 to fight Ultima and $10 to fight Omega, to earn the most powerful summon in the game it only costs $15. Want to unlock that new secret level that only another $5. How about $3 to get Excalibur.

I am guessing SE probably won't do that on PS3 but some companies really like Microtransactions EA for example, they do a lot of that type of stuff for their games on Xbox360. Lots of secrets being unlocked by paying them with MS points.

honestly id be suprised if sony took it to the xtreme microsoft does. sony has come across as almost hating online stuff to me. i mean, gran turismo hasnt been online yet, tekken nor virtua figher have either(i could see why in that case cuz lag would kill a fighter), and lots of other things too. theyll prolly do it to sum degree but id be suprised as shit if they took it as far as they could.

It's not the console developers who are responsible for mass amounts of micropayments... it's the game publishers. Granted, with companies as large as Microsoft and Sony, sometimes that equates to the same thing, but don't be putting the blame on the parts of those companies that came up with the actual consoles. As of yet, I can't think of a single MS Game Studio game that overuses micropayments (heck, I could only find 4 MS Game Studio games even listed on the Xbox Live Marketplace on xbox.com)

And how can you say Sony hates online stuff? Gran Turisimo HD was originally supposed to come in two SKUs, the lower-cost of which wasn't even going to come with any cars or tracks. You'd have to buy every car and track individually through micropayments. Fortunately that part of the company seems to have come to its senses and scrapped the project, but collectively Sony seems more than willing to toss their hand in with EA in worshipping the micropayment.

look at the xbox, a lot of the xbox library had online play or at least system link which is basically short range online. sony didnt seem to have as many online games as xbox. now i could be totally wrong but ive played a lot of ps2 games and cant recall a lot with online. im not totally against online or buying xtra features with online, but jesus fuck i hate the idea of sum rich 12yr old buying the whole goddamn library of cars in gran turismo with mommy's credit card. i actually kind of like unlocking cars the old way, thru hard work. now buying xpacs via online is hot. i dont have to run out to the store and buy an xpac that we may not even have in stock or sumthing, or have to order the bitch off sum shady website.

stuff like that is cool, but buying cars or pieces of armor is not.

Some MMOs run purely off micropayments actually. Those are usually the ones with no monthly fees, so you support the game by buying items. Like a scroll that will make you run twice as fast for an hour, or one that will give you 3x exp for 5 hours, or something that will double your damage for 30 minutes or half the damage you take for 30 minutes. And they make the game become such a grind without the exp scroll, and some fights so hard without the increased attack and defense on purpose kind of a thing.

That whole sort of business model reminds me of arcade games as a kid. No matter how good you were at some games, they were just designed to eat quarters.

I think I'd be pretty stoked about Supreme Commander if my computer wasn't a massive pile of crap.

  18. #18
Like right now I was trying to build a super weapon, and I had like 20 engineer things working on it and it took almost all my energy from 6 super power plants to build it... except in like 30minutes it only got to about 30%... <___________________<; It doesnt seem too demanding yet(performance I mean), but I havent gone big army vs big army, nor do I understand all the mechanics of it. Gamespot did some performance thing on Supreme Commander.

Do they still have it so you don't even have to see what the hell you're blowing up with the super weapons? I mean, the range of the guns in TA used to be so ridiculously far you could just target blips on the mini-map using the radar and start blowing shit up in the dark and watch blips disappear haha.

  20. #20
I dunno I saved the game and exited lol, it was the 1st time I played it and it was taking too long hhahahaha, I'm pretty sure you cant shoot in the dark... but you can get recon pretty easily I suppose <_< I havent seen any strategies or anything hahaha thats why I'm hoping Jin or Suji or anyone gets it that I know so I can try stuff out instead of vs computer.

i dont have the final version i have the demo tho. i plan on getting it. unless you got one of those voodoo pcs itll prolly have your pc crying when you push it to its limits. pump up everything to its max and play on a huge map with a couple hundred ground units vs a couple hundred ground units, then toss in a few squadrons of strategic bombers and air superiority fighters; not to mention a naval fleet with aircraft carriers, destroyers, and lets not even mention experimental units.

the range on sum of the larger artillery cannons and missle launchers is ridiculous. when they fire you see a lil dot representing the shell or missle on the mini map and when it lands it leaves a big ass crater. i havent made a strategic missle base(it fires the nuclear weapons) yet cuz it takes so fucking long to build.

i like the economy of this game. its basically like everything requires mass or energy when theyre built, upgraded, etc., a lot need both. sum things need energy even after completion(energy shields for example). once you reach tech 3 you can build a lot of ion generators then the tech 3 mass fabricators if your running outta mass and alrdy have tech 3 mass extractors on everything. the lvl 3 fabs suck up like -2400 energy but ion generators make like 3500. its rly about prepraring and buckling down while you build shit that suck mass and energy while its being constructed. i want this game Q_Q.

I can run it in close to max settings pretty easily(I turn off AA and hq shadows)... Its not as bad as Company of Heroes on my PC. But I'm using 2 X1900XTX's and an overclocked AMD X2 4800+ @2.8ghz. I think as long as you have a decent vid card and a good cpu with 2gb of ram, you should be ok running it. I have it in 1680x1050 with max settings and I havent noticed very much slowdown... Company of Heroes on the other hand destroyed my PC in max settings.

I'll take some ss soon o_ob I guess I need fraps though.

so Supreme Commander is PC... Q_Q could I run it on my system with these specs?

    Athlon XP 3200 400mhz FSB
    1.5g ram
    radeon 9600XT 256mb

It sounds pretty awesome and I kinda wanna play it >_> but I don't really have the resources to upgrade my computer atm. Oh, also to note, I'm running dual monitors. Should I even consider this game now? or should I just wait until I can upgrade to more current high performance?
